Levitating mice

September 16, 2009

Some scientists that have been working for NASA have been getting mice to levitate by simulating different levels of gravity.

“ It consists of a superconducting magnet that generates a field powerful enough to levitate the water inside living animals, with a space inside warm enough at room temperature and large enough at 2.6 inches wide (6.6 cm) for tiny creatures to float comfortably in during experiments.”

I thought it sounded kind of sad because the article reported the mice were disoriented by it, but I guess after a few hours they had already adjusted to it.

Yay for Japan!

cuke1

Japan has done something cool again. This time, they’ve made cucumbers fun to eat! nom. nom. I don’t even really care for cucumbers, but if they’re shaped like stars and hearts… then sure! why not??

Here’s the story:

I’ve decided to turn this into an interesting news blog. So here’s 3 to start. They’ve been sitting on my desktop for a while now. I’ll try to update this blog once a day with a weird, random, or interesting news story. Enjoy:

Buy me these!

This is a Japanese zoo’s training video that instructs it’s workers on what to do if rhinos (or in this case, cardboard rhinos…) attack.

I found this really amusing. It’s so weird. Apparently, all you have to do is poke them with sticks. Uh-mazing! I like watching the rhino bobble around, it puts a smile on my face. :]

Ah yes, blogging.

December 8, 2008

So I made a cake this past weekend and I’m going to post the pic because I think it’s pretty awesome. I’m also making this post because in the midst of my cake baking I started to run into a dilemma… the middle was still jiggly while the sides were baking fine! I never bake cakes so I just ran a search on google to see what I should do and it took me to a baking/cooking blog. Then I read tips on how to fix my problem.

Yay for blogs! And yay for the cake I properly baked with some help from a blog:

It was my friend’s birthday. He likes Sonic…

Foreign Accent Syndrome

December 3, 2008

This is something someone told me about a while ago. It’s a disease called Foreign Accent Syndrome. Could you imagine waking up sounding French when you don’t even know how to speak French??

You have to click the link and see the video:

A Canadian film maker decides to get a wireless web camera in his prosthetic eye for a new film idea.

The film maker is Rob Spence and lost his eye as a result from a shotgun accident as a child. He has come up with a documentary idea that portrays himself as a “Little Brother” in a “Big Brother” society.

He’s released a blog about it called “Eyeborg.”  It talks about himself, his film idea and other cool things. It even has a graphic video of his eye getting removed. It’s crazy stuff. Here’s the link:
